To extend the service life of the Plain Eyebolt, the key lies in correct selection, standardized installation, rational use, and regular maintenance.
【1】Correct selection
(1)Select the appropriate material and surface treatment based on the working conditions:
| Environmental conditions | Recommended materials + Surface treatment |
| Indoor drying | Carbon steel + electro-galvanizing |
| Outdoor damp conditions | Carbon steel + hot-dip galvanizing (HDG) or 304 stainless steel |
| Coastal / High Salt Spray Resistance | 316 Stainless Steel |
| High-temperature environment (>200°C) | Alloy steel (such as 35CrMo) + Dacromet coating |
| Low-temperature environment (below -20°C) | Alloy steel (with good impact toughness) |
(2)Choose the correct load level: Ensure that the actual lifting weight does not exceed the working load limit (WLL) of the Plain Eyebolt, and leave sufficient safety margin.
(3)Confirm the matching of thread specifications: Ensure that the thread of the lifting ring bolt (such as M10×1.5) is exactly the same as the thread hole of the equipment.
【2】Standard installation
(1)Preparation of threaded holes
Thread hole depth: At least 1 times the thread diameter in steel; at least 1.5 - 2 times the diameter in cast iron and aluminum materials.
Clean the threads: Before installation, remove oil stains, iron filings, old thread adhesives and other debris from the thread holes.
(2)The correct tightening method
Using a torque wrench: Tighten according to the standard recommended torque value.
Strictly prohibited: Do not use impact wrenches or extension tubes to forcefully tighten.
Matching gasket: If the installation surface is not flat, a steel flat washer must be added.
(3)Threaded Anti-loosening and Lubrication
For situations where the components need to be disassembled repeatedly, you can apply molybdenum disulfide lubricating grease or anti-sticking agent (especially for stainless steel materials) on the threads.

(1)Strictly adhere to the load direction restrictions.
Never allow any oblique pulling at any angle.
(2)Avoid impact loads and overloading.
When lifting or fixing, the load should be applied steadily to avoid sudden impacts.
Regularly weigh the lifted objects to ensure they do not exceed the WLL of the Plain Eyebolt.
(3)Avoid environmental corrosion that accelerates aging
After use in acidic, alkaline or salt spray environments, it should be promptly rinsed with clean water and dried.
For electro-galvanized products, avoid prolonged contact with chlorine-containing solutions (such as seawater and bleach).
【4】Regular maintenance
(1)Visual inspection before use (each time)
| Check items | Normal state | Abnormal state |
| Ring shape | Circular, without deformation. | Obvious bending, twisting, and enlargement of the opening. |
| Surface condition | No cracks, no severe rusting. | Visible cracks, deep rust pits, extensive peeling of the coating. |
| Thread | Complete, without burrs | Loose teeth, wear and rust prevent smooth insertion |
| Identification | Clear and legible (WLL, specifications, etc.) | Blurry and illegible |
(2)Regular professional inspection
Monthly: Use a torque wrench to re-torque the frequently used Plain Eyebolt.
Quarterly: Conduct MT or PT to inspect surface and near-surface cracks.
Each year: Conduct sampling for the guaranteed load test (1.5 times the WLL).
(3)Cleaning and Rust Prevention
After each use, wipe it clean with a clean cloth to remove dust and grease.
For carbon steel electro-galvanized products, apply anti-rust oil or anti-rust wax once a month.
When stored for a long time, it should be placed on a dry and ventilated shelf, and should not be stored in the same warehouse as corrosive chemicals.
