Round wire rope (smooth and galvanized) is an indispensable material in industrial settings. The method is simple: first twist several strands of steel wire together to form strands of thread; then wind these strands around a core in the middle. There are two types of cores: some are made of fiber like hemp, and some are made directly of steel. Its spiral structure combines excellent strength and flexibility, making it highly adaptable in scenarios such as pulling, lifting and fixing heavy objects, and can perform its functions stably. Round wire rope (smooth and galvanized) is made with uncoated steel wires—no zinc or other metal layers on the surface. To basic rust protection, it’s usually dipped in oil during manufacturing, which soaks into the core and coats the wires.

Excellent corrosion protection

Corrosion resistance: The zinc layer can protect against erosion from rain, salt water or chemical substances. Under harsh environmental conditions, the service life of hot-dip galvanizing (coating thickness of 20-60 microns) is significantly longer than that of electroplating galvanizing (coating thickness of 5-20 microns). Excellent adhesion: Hot-dip galvanizing can firmly "stick" to steel. Even if the steel is bent or the surface is rubbed, the galvanized layer will not fall off easily. Compared with other types of coatings, the degree of wear of electroplated galvanized coatings will become more significant over time during use, and its wear resistance is relatively weak. Low long-term maintenance costs, no need for frequent oiling; the zinc layer itself can prevent rust. It is less prone to getting dirty than smooth steel wire ropes.

It has the advantages of being economical and affordable, and can directly save the painting process, thus making the overall production cost lower than that of galvanized plates. Therefore, for simple tasks, it is an economical choice. Excellent flexibility, the oil-stained surface reduces the friction between the wires, making it easier to bend around pulleys or drums - very suitable for tasks that require frequent movement, such as small cranes or winches. Low maintenance (but with specific requirements), the oil acts as a temporary waterproof barrier, but requires regular reapplication. If not coated with oil, it will quickly rust once it comes into contact with water or moisture. It usually produces oil stains during actual cleaning and is prone to leaving residual substances. Therefore, it is not suitable for environments with clear requirements for cleaning, such as food processing or interior decoration places.
