Preparation before use

Let's talk about how to use U shaped bolt properly. So, what preparations need to be made before using them?

（1）Specification matching confirmation

Thread diameter (d): Must be consistent with the thread specification of the matching nut.

Bending radius (R): It should closely fit the outer diameter or shape of the fixed object (pipe, vehicle axle, steel beam), and the allowable gap should be ≤ 1.5mm.

Leg length (L): Ensure that after the nut is tightened, at least 2 to 3 complete threads are exposed at the end of the bolt.

Material and surface treatment: Choose according to the environment (electro-galvanizing for dry indoor use; hot-dip galvanizing for outdoor damp conditions; stainless steel for marine/chemical applications).

（2）Component integrity inspection

The U shaped bolt body has no cracks, no severe rust, and the threads are free from scratches or burrs.

The matching nuts and washers (flat washers, spring washers) are of the correct specifications and in good condition.

For critical components such as the suspension system, it is strictly prohibited to use old parts. Every time it is disassembled, new parts must be used.

（3）Cleaning of the surface of the fixed object

Remove oil stains, rust and cement lumps from the surfaces of pipes, axles or bases, and ensure that the contact surfaces are flat and dry.

Regular maintenance

（1）Formulate an inspection plan

First re-tightening: For newly installed U shaped bolt, after the equipment has been operated for 100-200 kilometers (for vehicles) or 1 week (for static equipment), they must be rechecked and re-tightened using a torque wrench.

Regular inspection: Check every 3-6 months or every 5,000 kilometers to ensure that the torque remains within the specified range.

Visual inspection: Check for any obvious rust, damaged threads, bent or deformed parts, or loose nuts.

（2）Replace failed components in a timely manner

If you find any of the following issues: thread slippage, severe rust (with the coating peeling off and rust spots all over), bending deformation or cracks, immediately replace it and do not continue to use it.

For areas along the coast or where salt is applied during winter, it is recommended to shorten the inspection period to 3 months.

（3）Re-lubrication

For detachable bolts (such as pipe supports), when reinstalling them, a small amount of lubricating grease or anti-galling agent can be applied to the threads to reduce the friction coefficient and prevent the threads from rusting and seizing.

（4）Environmental Protection

For bolts that are exposed for a long time (such as outdoor pipe supports or lamp post bases), it is advisable to apply anti-rust paint or protective wax on a regular basis as additional protection.
