Post Tension Wedge is a tapered, high-strength steel component (typically 2- or 3-piece split clamp) with internal serrations, designed to grip and lock prestressing steel strands in a post-tension anchor system. It transfers the tendon’s tension force to the anchor barrel/concrete and maintains prestress permanently. It is the core component used for anchoring steel strands in post-tensioned prestressed concrete structures. It is usually made of high-strength alloy steel and is wedge-shaped, fitting into the conical holes of the anchor plate. Depending on the application scenario, it can be classified into two-piece (one-time use) and three-piece (reusable) types, etc.
To enable you to have a better understanding of the product, the following is the working condition of the Post Tension Wedge in the application scenarios, which will help you accumulate more experience during use.
| Status | Post Tension Wedge behavior | Steel strand condition |
| During tensioning (with the use of jacks) | Not fully wedged in place, it can move slightly with the steel strands | Under tension, it can slide |
| Uninstalling anchor | Being pulled into the cone hole of the anchor plate and pressed tight | The retraction trend is prevented |
| Long-term service | Maintain tightness, self-locking effect remains | Maintain prestress, no slippage occurs |
| Fatigue load (for bridges, etc.) | Remains locked even during vibration | Stress fluctuates but does not slip off |
FAQ
(1)What material is the Post Tension Wedge made of?
The wedge is made of 20CrMnTi or 20Cr high-quality carburized alloy steel. After cold forging, it undergoes carburizing + quenching + low-temperature tempering treatment. The tooth surface is also treated with phosphating or Dacromet to enhance the anti-sticking ability.
(2)Do you offer samples? How about the sample cost?
We provide free samples (2 to 5 pieces). The customer only needs to bear the international shipping cost. The samples can be dispatched within 5 to 7 working days, along with the test report.
(3)Could you provide the report on the chemical composition of the materials and the records of hardness tests?
Sure. For each batch of products, we can provide the Material Test Certificate (MTC) and the Hardness Test Report (Rockwell Hardness HRC or HRA).
(4)Will the Post Tension Wedge lose its performance under extreme temperatures?
Our product design is applicable within the temperature range of -40°C to +60°C (extendable to -50°C). At low temperatures, the material still maintains sufficient impact toughness (verified by -40°C impact test), and the hardness and anchoring efficiency do not decrease under high temperatures, meeting the requirements of most bridges, buildings, and engineering projects in cold regions.
