Our Post Tension Gripper Wedge is simple to use – no special tools needed, just regular wrenches and basic auxiliary fasteners. First, make sure the wedge size is a match for the bolt and the workpiece you’re connecting. Clean the workpiece’s contact surface to get rid of oil and debris, this stops slipping when you install it.

Then put the wedge between the bolt head and the workpiece, line it up with the bolt properly to make sure it’s fully in contact with the workpiece surface. Use a wrench to tighten the bolt until the wedge fits snugly against both the bolt head and workpiece, with no gaps in between. Don’t tighten it too much, or the wedge might deform.

Check the connection regularly when using it later on, especially for equipment that vibrates a lot – this makes sure the wedge doesn’t come loose from long-term operation. You can take it apart just by loosening the bolt, and if the wedge surface is undamaged, it can be used again.

Product surface treatment

The basic treatment we use is zinc plating, a standard process in fastener manufacturing. It creates a thin zinc layer on the wedge surface to keep it away from air and moisture, and it’s fit for indoor workshops and dry working conditions. For humid or outdoor work environments, we add a passivation treatment after zinc plating to boost the surface’s corrosion resistance. We also offer black oxide treatment: it forms a black protective film on the surface, and it’s mainly for workpieces that don’t have high appearance requirements but still need basic rust protection.

All these surface treatments follow standard industrial operation steps, with no special or complicated procedures involved. The thickness of the treatment layer is controlled to regular production standards, so it won’t affect the wedge’s size or normal assembly. The treated surface also won’t peel off easily with normal use and installation.
