The Tab washers with long and short tab, which complies with DIN 463 mechanical locking ring, is a single-piece, purely mechanical locking anti-loosening ring. It is formed through a single die-casting process, featuring one long ear piece and one short ear piece, with the two ear pieces forming an approximately 90° angle. It is used for hexagonal bolts / nuts, achieving anti-loosening through the bending of the one long and one short ear piece, and is suitable for high-vibration, dynamic load and thermal expansion and contraction conditions. This structure can completely prevent the relative rotation of the nut or bolt, achieving reliable mechanical locking.

The structural features of Tab washers with long and short tab are as follows:
(1)Integrated stamping molding
The entire Tab washers with long and short tab is made from a single sheet of metal through the cold stamping process. There is no welding or additional components, resulting in a simple structure, high strength and low cost.
(2)Double-ear design (one long and one short)
The main body of the Tab washers with long and short tab is circular, and two ear pieces extend outward along the outer edge:
Short Tab: Short in length
Long Tab: Longer in length
The two ear pieces form an angle of approximately 90 degrees with each other.
(3)There is a stress release structure at the root of the ear piece.
At the connection point between the ear piece and the circular body, rounded corners or slight width contraction are designed to reduce stress concentration during bending and prevent the ear piece from breaking.
(4)Cylindrical body
The thickness of the body is uniform. There are no teeth or inclined surfaces on the body, and the surface is usually smooth.

(1)What materials are available?
Carbon steel (zinc plated) and stainless steel (304 or 316). Other options exist for special needs.
(2)Can they be reused?
No. Once the tabs are bent, the washer is permanently deformed — single use only.
(3)Are they good for high vibration?
Yes — they provide positive mechanical locking, not friction, so vibration won’t loosen them.
