When installing and using the M6 Outer serrated Lock washer, the following points require special attention.
(1)One-time use
After removing the M6 Outer serrated Lock washer, if the teeth have permanently deformed, they cannot be reused; otherwise, they will not be able to provide the anti-loosening function.
(2)Not suitable for soft materials
The teeth may deeply bite into aluminum, plastic, and thin steel plates, which may cause indentation or cracking. It is recommended to add a flat washer below the M6 Outer serrated Lock washer for buffering.
(3)Pay attention to the surface coating
If there is paint or electroplating layer on the surface of the workpiece, the teeth may penetrate the coating and leave marks. When there are requirements for the appearance, choose carefully.
(4)Try to use large fasteners as much as possible.
The external tooth washer is suitable for bolts with larger heads such as hexagonal heads, round heads, and flat heads; for small-head screws, an internal tooth gasket should be selected.
(5)Torque control
Excessive tightening may cause the teeth to be completely flattened and lose their elasticity; insufficient torque will prevent a proper fit. Therefore, it is essential to operate strictly according to the recommended values.
Common Errors and Solutions
(1)After tightening, the outer edge of the M6 Outer serrated Lock washer rises up.
Possible causes:The washer is installed in the wrong direction.
Solution:Remove it and reinstall it with the tooth surface facing the fastener.
(2)The bolts are still loosening.
Possible causes:Insufficient torque / Reuse of washers
Solution:Check the torque value. /If it has been disassembled and reassembled, replace the new washer.
(3)The grounding resistance is too high.
Possible causes:The teeth have not pierced through the coating.
Solution:Clean the contact surface, or slightly scrape off the coating and then re-tighten.
(4)The surface of the workpiece is severely scratched.
Possible causes:The M6 Outer serrated Lock washer is directly pressed against the soft surface.
Solution:Add a flat washer beneath the washer, or replace it with an internal tooth washer.
