The common base material for External Tooth lock washers with countersunk is spring steel. This type of material has good elasticity and strong adhesion, but it is prone to rusting. Therefore, surface treatment must be carried out to prevent corrosion.

1.Galvanized (white zinc / blue zinc)

Color: Silver white or light blue

Salt spray test: Medium (72–96 hours)

High cost performance, widely used; rust prevention ability is average

2.Yellow Zinc

Color: Golden yellow

Salt spray test result: Medium-high (96–120 hours)

Corrosion resistance is superior to white zinc, and the color is easy to distinguish

Suitable for general industrial use both indoors and outdoors, as well as in mild humid environments

3.Mechanical galvanization

Appearance is matte silver-gray

Salt spray test is high (200–400 hours)

No hydrogen embrittlement risk, uniform coating

High-strength gasket (hardness ≥ HRC 40), high safety requirements

4.Dacromet (zinc-aluminum coating)

Appearance color: matte silver-gray / dark gray

Salt spray test is high (more than 500 - 1000 hours)

No hydrogen embrittlement, excellent salt spray resistance, high temperature resistance (≤ 300°C)

5.Black Oxide

Salt spray test is extremely low (only a few hours)

The cost is the lowest, and the size is hardly changed. The appearance is matte.

It is suitable for indoor dry environments. Only the appearance requirements are met, and there is no need for rust prevention.

6.Phosphating

Dark gray

Salt spray test (requires oil coating)

No hydrogen embrittlement, good oil storage property, can improve lubrication

Coating the base layer, or for assemblies requiring oil lubrication

7.Nickel plating

Bright silver-white

Good salt spray test result (≈ 200 hours)

Lustrous appearance, more corrosion-resistant than galvanized, but higher cost
