Grade A4 (316) double ferrule nuts are suitable for use in environments containing salt water, de-icing salt, industrial chemicals or high humidity.The chromium and nickel in it,and the molybdenum in A4 specifically,form a protective layer on the surface. The cool thing is, if it gets scratched, that layer can sort of “repair” itself, which coated carbon steel fasteners can’t do.

That built-in protection is why this nut is a go-to for projects that need to last. It holds up in corrosive conditions without needing regular maintenance. So whether it’s near the ocean, in a factory with chemicals, or somewhere damp, picking this stainless steel nut means you won’t have to worry about rust or degradation over time.

Maintenance

Double ferrule nuts are inherently rust-resistant. The bolts used with them must also be rust-resistant, such as stainless steel. Otherwise, abnormal corrosion may occur in the contact areas.

In really harsh spots, just give it a quick peek now and then. Check for gunk buildup or damage that could scratch up its coating.

Do not use strong detergents containing bleach or chlorine. It does not require frequent inspection, saving maintenance time. Regular inspections and timely replacement of any problems are sufficient. It can be used for a long time.
