(1)Destructive Torque Test
Insert the matching bolts into theHexagon Spot Weld Nuts, apply the specified torque using a torque wrench. If it do not rotate and the weld points do not tear, it is considered qualified. The recommended reference torque value according to the BS 7670 standard:
M5 nut: Minimum failure torque ≥ 12 N·m
M6 nut: Minimum failure torque ≥ 20 N·m
M8 nut: Minimum failure torque ≥ 50 N·m
(2)Strip or pull-out test
Carry out destructive strip or pull-out tests to check whether a piece of metal can be pulled off from the base material at each contact point.
(3)Visual Inspection
The Hexagon Spot Weld Nuts is not tilted, and the flange surface is perfectly in contact with the workpiece.
There is no severe splashing, cracks or weld-through.
The thread gauge test was passed (the welding heat influence should not cause the thread to deform).
When using Hexagon Spot Weld Nuts for resistance spot welding and subsequent assembly, please strictly follow the following safety guidelines to ensure personal safety, equipment integrity, and welding quality.
(1)Wear protective equipment
When operating the welding machine, protective glasses or a face shield must be worn to prevent eye injuries from the welding splashes.
Put on fire-resistant gloves and long-sleeved work clothes to prevent the skin from being burned by flying metal.
In an environment where smoke is present, it is necessary to wear a dust mask or use a local exhaust device.
(2)Prevent electric shock
Make sure the welding machine is properly grounded and the insulation layer of the cable is intact.
Keep the area around the welding machine dry. There must be no water accumulation or oil stains on the ground.
It is strictly prohibited to operate the welding machine with bare hands in a humid environment. If operation is necessary, an insulating pad or insulated shoes should be used.
(3)Prevent splashing and fire
No flammable or explosive items (such as oil drums, solvents, paper, etc.) shall be placed in the welding area.
When the splashing is significant, fire barriers can be set up around the welding workstation.
After welding is completed, allow the workpiece to cool naturally to room temperature before stacking it. This prevents the residual heat from igniting other materials.
(4)Equipment Maintenance
Regularly check whether the electrodes are worn out and whether the locating pins are loose.
Regularly clean the metal debris inside the welding machine and on the worktable to prevent short circuits or mechanical jams.
The welding and usage of Hexagon Spot Weld Nuts should strictly follow the safety instructions. This not only ensures the safety of the operators but also effectively improves the welding quality and production efficiency.
