(1)What’s an M8 Square Plate Washers for?

It pushes the pressure from bolts and nuts over a larger area than ordinary round washers. It stops soft materials like wood, composite panels and lightweight concrete from getting crushed or damaged.

The working principle of the M8 Square Plate Washers is very straightforward and can be summarized as follows: The concentrated bolt clamping force is evenly distributed onto the surface of the connected component through a large area of the square plate body.

（1）Increase the force area and reduce the surface pressure

When a bolt or nut is tightened, the tightening force is transmitted to the pad through the peripheral area of the center hole of the pad.

The edge length of the M8 Square Plate Washers is larger than the diameter of the ordinary pad, and the bearing area is 2 to 3 times or even larger than that of the ordinary pad. Under the same clamping force, the larger the area, the smaller the pressure on the surface of the substrate. This can effectively prevent the substrate from being locally damaged or causing permanent depressions.

（2）Prevent local deformation and maintain clamping force

M8 Square Plate Washers are usually thick and undergo hardening treatment, possessing high flexural stiffness on their own. Like a hard "tray", they evenly distribute the load to a large area, and the washers themselves will not bend or yield. This enables the preload of the bolts to be maintained stably for a long time without loosening.

（3）Anti-rotation assistance

When tightening the nut, the washer sometimes rotates along with the nut, which may affect the installation efficiency or cause surface scratches.

M8 Square Plate Washers have four straight edges. When you put them against the surface, they grip better than regular round washers. On rough spots or wood, that extra bite keeps the washer from spinning around. It also makes tightening the nut a lot easier.
