How to extend the service life?

This DIN 603 Cup head bolt is mainly used for fixing hard materials such as metal and wood. Its head is semi-circular in shape and the neck has a locking flange to prevent rotation. The core method for extending its service life is as follows:

（1）Correct selection

Choose the performance grade based on the usage requirements: 4.8 grade for light loads, 8.8 grade for general industrial use, and 10.9 grade or 12.9 grade alloy steel for heavy loads/high vibration applications.

Matching usage environment:

Indoor drying → Electro-galvanized carbon steel

Outdoor damp conditions → Hot-dip galvanized carbon steel or stainless steel 304

Coastal/Chemical → Stainless Steel 316 (A4-80)

Confirm dimensions: The diameter, length and neck size of the bolt must precisely match the hole position of the workpiece.

（2）Standard Installation

Proper Hole Drilling: Before installation, drill a round hole on the workpiece that matches the diameter of the DIN 603 Cup head bolt; for hardwood or metal, the square section should be pre-drilled into a square shape or formed by stamping, ensuring that the square section is fully inserted.

Using a torque wrench: Symmetrically and step by step tighten the nuts according to the recommended torque values. Do not force the tightening.

Matching gasket: Use flat washers on the nut side to distribute the pressure. In vibration environments, add spring washers or anti-loosening nuts.

Avoid reusing: After each disassembly, a new bolt must be used; reusing is not allowed.

（3）Regular Maintenance and Inspection

Initial re-tightening: After installation, run the vehicle for 100 to 200 kilometers (or operate the static equipment for 1 week) and then re-check and re-tighten once using a torque wrench.

Periodic inspection: Check every 3 to 6 months whether the bolts are loose, rusted, bent or have damaged threads.

Timely replacement: If you find that the threads are slipping, severely rusted (with the coating peeling off and rust spots all over), or bent and deformed, replace it immediately.

（4）Environmental Protection

Surface treatment maintenance: For hot-dip galvanized or electro-galvanized products, if the coating is slightly scratched, cold galvanizing paint or rust preventive wax can be reapplied.

（5）Correct Storage

Store in a dry and well-ventilated room, and avoid contact with corrosive substances such as acids, alkalis, and salts.

Products in their original packaging that have not been opened should be used within the shelf life (usually 1 to 2 years). After opening, they should be consumed as soon as possible or resealed to prevent moisture.
