How to choose the surface treatment?

When you are unsure about how to choose the surface treatment for the Ferry Cap Head Screws, you can make a judgment based on the following logic:

【Step 1】Define the application environment

Indoor, dry environment: Electro-galvanizing or blackening.

Outdoor, humid or with salt spray risk: Zinc-nickel alloy, Dacromet, Jumet or hot-dip galvanizing must be chosen.

Strong acids and alkalis, high temperatures or special functions: High-performance coatings such as Teflon/Xylan®.

【Step 2】Determine the strength grade of the bolts

For grades 10.9 and above: For safety reasons, a process without hydrogen embrittlement risk must be selected, such as zinc-nickel alloy, Dacromet, Jumet, hot-dip galvanizing or mechanical galvanizing.

For grades 8.8 and below: All processes are available, but for safety reasons, it is still recommended to perform hydrogen removal treatment on electro-galvanized products.

【Step 3】Balance performance and cost

Budget priority: Electro-galvanizing offers the highest cost-effectiveness.

Overall performance priority: For high-strength Ferry Cap Head Screws above grade 10.9, Dacromet/Jumet is recommended. It offers both excellent corrosion resistance and safety. For high-strength bolts with special lubrication requirements, the Xylan® coating with lubrication function can be selected.

Prioritize harsh environments: Hot-dip galvanizing or zinc-nickel alloy is a reliable choice for ensuring long-term service.

How to store?

Ferry Cap Head Screws are precision and high-strength fasteners. The storage conditions directly affect the rust prevention performance, thread accuracy and integrity of the driving surface of the product. The following is a systematic storage guideline.

【1】Storage environment

Temperature: 15 - 25°C, Relative humidity: ≤ 60%, Good ventilation, no corrosive gases, avoid direct sunlight.

【2】Packaging method

（1）The original packaging is the best storage condition for the product. It should be wrapped in anti-rust bags or VCI anti-rust paper.

（2）If the product needs to be re-packaged after being opened:

Short-term storage (< 1 month): Seal it with a clean PE plastic bag and place it in desiccant.

Long-term storage (> 1 month): It is recommended to apply anti-rust oil or anti-rust wax, and then seal it with a VCI anti-rust bag.

（3）Avoid using ordinary newspapers or cardboard for direct wrapping: Paper absorbs moisture and contains acidic substances, which can easily cause rusting. It is prohibited to be exposed directly to the air, and it should not be mixed with materials such as acids, alkalis, salts, rubber, wood, etc. which are volatile and corrosive. Do not use damaged or damp packaging bags.

【3】Storage and Handling Rules

（1）Storage Requirements

Handle with care: Avoid violent collisions between the Ferry Cap Head Screws.

Height restriction: The stacking height of cartons shall not exceed 1.5 meters.

Pallet storage: Use wooden or plastic pallets, keeping at least 10cm off the ground. This is to facilitate ventilation and moisture prevention.

Categorization storage: Products of different specifications, materials and surface treatments should be stored separately to prevent contamination.

（2）Safety Precautions for Handling

Do not throw or dump. When handling, wear gloves to prevent corrosion caused by sweat on the hands.
