The BSP Male Captive Seal Hollow Plug is a highly sophisticated hydraulic component. Its structure consists of the following key components, and each part works together to ensure its sealing performance and reliability.
(1)Plug body
This is the main body of the entire structure, serving as the foundation for installation and pressure bearing. It is usually made of durable materials such as carbon steel, stainless steel, or brass. The thread type is typically BSPP (British Standard Parallel Pipe Thread) or BSPT (British Standard Conical Pipe Thread).
(2)Anti-detachment Sealing Ring
This is the core technology of this product, also known as the "anti-loss sealing component". It integrates and fixes various sealing elements such as O-rings and composite gaskets onto the screw cap in advance. This design effectively prevents the sealing ring from being lost, misaligned, or damaged due to compression during use or disassembly, thereby ensuring consistent sealing performance.
(3)Hexagon drive slot
Located at the head of the BSP Male Captive Seal Hollow Plug, it is used to insert a hexagonal wrench for installation and disassembly. This design enables operation even in compact spaces.
(4)BSP external thread
The thread is a standard British Standard Pipe thread (BSP), used to precisely fit with the internal thread of the hydraulic port. Depending on the standard, it can be BSPP (parallel thread) or BSPT (conical thread).
(5)Optional non-metallic accessories
Many manufacturers will provide plastic protective covers for the threaded parts when shipping the products, to prevent physical damage or contamination during transportation and storage.
The two sealing mechanisms of the BSP Male Captive Seal Hollow Plug have become its key design features. These two sealing mechanisms ensure that the nut can maximize its functionality during use.
【1】Anti-detachment Sealing Mechanism
(1)Physical limit: The sealing ring (such as an O-ring) is inserted into a specially precisely designed annular groove on the end of the BSP Male Captive Seal Hollow Plug or on the shoulder of the shaft. This not only securely fixes the sealing ring but also allows it to generate the necessary compression to form an effective seal.
(2)Composite structure: For some composite sealing gaskets, the metal framework may be mechanically combined with the screw body to ensure that the gasket remains in the correct position at all times.
【2】BSP thread type
(1)BSPP (G thread): This refers to a thread where the thread itself is parallel and does not have sealing capability. It must rely on end-face sealing to achieve sealing.
(2)BSPT (R thread): This refers to a thread with a taper. Its sealing principle is achieved through the tight engagement of the inner and outer tapered threads to achieve a metal-to-metal seal.
