On the side or bottom of the self clinching projection weld nut, there are some special structures, such as protrusions, hooks or teeth. These structures are the key to its self-tightening feature. Its thread specifications are also quite diverse, and it can be matched with various corresponding bolts.
The self clinching projection weld nut has a serrated or toothed structure underneath the base. When you push them into the pre-drilled holes (using a special welding gun or tool), these serrations will embed into the metal plate. Then, you can perform the welding through the central hole of the nut. The welding will permanently lock it in place, but the serrations have already firmly fixed it for the welding process. The self-locking structure is ingeniously designed, enabling mechanical locking to be achieved simultaneously during welding, providing dual guarantees for the stability of the connection. It has strong adaptability to the welding parts. Whether it is thin iron plate or thick steel plate, it can firmly and smoothly perform the welding and fixation.
The use of self locating projection weld nuts requires a specific hole diameter. The hole diameter needs to be slightly smaller than the serrated ring of the nut. When pressed in, the teeth will cause a slight deformation of the edge of the hole, thereby forming a tight grip. If the hole diameter size is incorrect, the nuts cannot be properly fixed before welding.
Self clinching projection weld nuts are most suitable for use on metal sheets within a specific thickness range. It is usually about 0.8 millimeters to 3.0 millimeters. If it is too thin, the teeth of the nut may break. If it is too thick, the deformation of the nut may not be sufficient to firmly clamp the material. Please check the specifications of the nut to ensure that it matches the thickness of the sheet.
