Class 5 weld square nuts with type 1D have four flat sides. The center of the nut has a standard threaded hole, which is convenient for use with matching bolts. On the welding surface of the nut, there are several small protrusions, which are the key parts for welding.
Class 5 weld square nuts of type 1D do not have an angular hole design. Instead, a small and raised protrusion is designed at the bottom. They are specifically designed for resistance spot welding. The electrodes press downward, and the current flows through the raised area. The raised area instantly melts and fuses the nut with the underlying metal.
Class 5 weld square nuts with type 1D are easy and quick to weld. Align the equipment with the small protrusions on the nut, and apply a little heat. Then the nut can be quickly welded onto the iron plate or other metal workpieces. Compared to ordinary nuts that require screwing for installation, this method significantly saves time. The nut is not likely to rotate easily, and its stability is much better than that of the circular nut.
One of the major advantages of welding square nuts of type 1D with Class 5 is the consistency of the welding process. Since the protrusions can precisely control the formation position of the weld seam, the automatic spot welding machine can achieve reliable results in each cycle. Compared with manual through-hole welding, the possibility of insufficient weld strength due to the misalignment of the welding gun is much lower.
After using Class 5 weld square nuts with type 1D, inspect the weld nuggets. You should see a solid fusion point at each protrusion. It should appear to be completely fused into the base material. If the protrusion shape is still visible, or it looks like charred/scratched, then the welding settings (current, time, pressure) may need to be adjusted to achieve a secure bond.
